Benjie has been the music director for the UU Congregation of Phoenix since 2013. He chooses and prepares music for worship services, teaches songs to the congregation, directs the choir, involves member instrumentalists, and supervises the audio-visual team. During his time at UUCP, Benjie has preached, arranged for choir and orchestra, directed the first Phoenix performance of Street Requiem, performed on all sorts of instruments, and supported many member-led ensembles.

In 2020, Benjie served as Music Coordinator for the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA)’s first fully online General Assembly (GA) and led the first GA virtual choir. Also in 2020, he completed the UUA’s Music Leadership Credentialing Program, and has since been a mentor to several students in that program. During the covid lockdown of 2020-2022, Benjie led singers from many UU congregations in the Arizona UU Video Choir.
